A couple years ago, I came across a set of documentaries called "Sex Slaves in America." I hadn't known much about Human trafficking or the sex slave trade. And what I did know was from other countries, mainly the developing/third world countries.
After watching that, I was horrified and disgusted. Not merely from the actions of those who enslave 27 million men, women, and children around the world, but from the actions of those who do nothing. Those who are aware of what is going on, and turn a blind eye.
This video is one of the ads that End It has made in order to raise awareness of the issue of Sex Slaves and Human Trafficking. It is tough to watch, but it definitely sheds light on the topic.
There are also a few statistics here
Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI have goosebumps from this video. Thank you for sharing. I cannot imagine what that life looks like for those individuals-- men, women, or children. I think the way it was approached with the see-through truck sent an incredibly strong message. Since you have encountered the terrible reality of human trafficking, how have you become more involved in this cause?
My main involvement at the moment is just spreading awareness on the topic. I think one of the most upsetting parts of the human trafficking issue right now is that so few people are aware of its reach. Most hear about human trafficking and think it can't happen here. It occurs in many cities in every state. And many people who do see it here, turn a blind eye.
DeleteThe End It Movement is one of the more effective movements to raise awareness. February 27th they are organizing a Shine a Light on Slavery day.
