Politics of Short Hair?

I have had short hair most of my life. I am much too busy and impatient to have to fuss over taking care of long hair. I recently had to grown it out for my brother's wedding since my sister-in-law demanded we have long hair for it. After growing it for almost 2 years, I finally chopped it off. And I am glad my 2+ hour of trying to do my hair has gone back to 10 minutes.

However, according to this article, I am trying to make a political statement. I am damaged "in some significant" way. All because I have short hair.

This article is long, but worth the read. Some of the things stated are so ridiculous you would think it would be a joke.

  1. So many feelings. First, I had boy short hair. I cut it all off in 2012, and I LOVED it. Reading this makes me want to take the clippers to my hair once again. Second, men and women look at short-haired females so differently. Women would always compliment my style when I had short hair: it was edgy and fresh and unique. So many would say: "I wish I could pull that off." I seriously doubt anyone of them were also thinking: "And I hope it pisses of the men in my life." I certainly was not. Lastly, it is such a pain to grow your hair back. I did it. It was months of, like the author mentioned, determination and discipline. I did it for me. Not men.

  2. I really liked this article. Lately I've noticed a wave of celebrities rocking the pixie cut and it's definitely caught my attention. But never once did I assume "Hey look, a political statement." I realized that, while it may be for movie roles, many of the women donated their hair which is fantastic. So shame on Tuthmosis. Loved the article, nice find!
