The 10 Best Companies for Women in 2014

Just 4.6 percent of the 1,000 largest U.S. companies have female CEO's. That's a number that has merely inched up from last year's 4 percent standing. These numbers indicate the dramatically slow progression towards gender equality among today's business leaders. Why, despite our outwardly vocal attitude as a culture of gender equality, do women continue to lag by such an enormous margin in leadership of our strongest companies? It's a debate that continues to be hashed out.

An article published today by Forbes skims the surface of these questions, while celebrating ten of the best companies for women to work for today. The National Association for Female Executives compiled the list by evaluating women's representation at all levels of employment within each company, employees' access to and use of programs and policies that promote women's advancement, training opportunities and managers' accountability.

Ernst & Young, IBM, Marriott, State Farm, and Procter & Gamble top the list.
