The Stereotypical Blonde- Ms. Elle Woods
This clip does a great job of presenting the stereotypical blonde, and how Elle Woods fights against it. Everyone is saying that she is not smart enough to go to law school and become a lawyer based on her looks. She uses this as motivation to become successful. Many stereotypes are based on physical appearances, and people are not given the opportunity to prove that they can be a successful person. I like this movie because it shows girls that you cannot just use your looks to be successful, but you have to be willing to work hard. Elle Woods is a good role model for any woman that is looking to be successful in a predominately male career.
This is one of my favorite movies, and musicals, for your precise reasoning. I actually think the musical does a better job of addressing the prejudices Elle faces. But, this is a neat example. I do have some issues with how they portray her success, by using her stereotype to succeed in key moments, instead of her new knowledge (specifically the end)
