Gloria Steinem

This past week Gloria Steinem turned 80 and this article provides a brief description of how she made a positive impact for women.  I especially liked the brief discussion of how she changed the world of women magazines, which before her time, featured only things applicable to being a wife and mother.  The article also talks about some misconceptions of feminism, which relate well to the material Malia covered earlier this week in class.  I also thought it related well to the YouTube video we watched in class the week before.

Here's a brief outline of Steinem's highlighted contributions:

1. She Proved Women's stories Matter.
2. She Showed Us Feminists Can Be Funny and Get Manicures
3. She Taught Us Children Aren't Mandatory
4. She Taught Us to Pick Our Battle, and Keep Fighting
5. She Showed Us How to Make Our Anger Work for Us
