Female representation in video games

Source: Smash Survey

Let this sink in a little.

It blows my mind that only 17 percent of videogame characters are women. I can only image how that number is divided between oversexualized characters, damsels in distress, and characters that really have nothing to add to the plot.

The lack of (proper) representation of various demographics in videogames is just sad.

  1. I think that it is really sad that only 17% of videogame characters are women. Not only do these characters set unrealistic and unhealthy standards for women, but for male views of women as well.
