WOMEN IN MUSIC

I did my presentation over Greenwich Village, an artistic neighborhood in NYC that is famous for Bob Dylan among other things.  I am so glad that I did the topic I did, I learned tons about a culture I already admire, but I was going to do my presentation over women in music.

Here is a Bob Dylan supergroup called the Travelin' Wilbury's, also with George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison. As well as the drummer from, Electric Light Orchestra (they did the song evil woman....maybe a bad portrait of ladies in culture).

There are no women in this supergroup, only men.  Women are used in tv videos as singers/ sexual objects, but how many famous female musicians can you list?  Women that lead bands, and play instruments, and are respected for the instrumental ability?
I can list a lot of country singers and a few alternative singers
-Gaga
-Jewel-
-joan baez
-indigo girls-
-Alie Kral
-Sierra Hull-
-Alison Krause
-Janis Joplin

My favorite band of all time, the Grateful Dead, had one female vocalist for a short period.  Donna Jean Godcheaux sung for Elvis, then for the Dead.  She was a good singer, but all of the membbers of the Dead were on drugs....so they all had 'vocal irregularities'....but I dont hear hippies make fun of Jerry Garcia's awesome singing as much as I hear about people critiquing Donna.
