19 Female Prime Ministers and Presidents

I found a list of current Prime Ministers and Presidents who are also women. I counted 19 total (Chile included) which is not a great percentage of the 193 countries currently part of the United Nations. Chile inaugurated Michelle Bachelet as President of Chile in March. (If she’s not president now, she will be soon) I admit that I was unaware that some of these governments were headed by a female leader. The 19 countries that are on the list vary as far as location. Some major international actors such as Germany and South Korea appear on the list, as well as some smaller countries like Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Latvia.
