This article takes a look at the modern “war on women.” It asserts that
the women of both parties are subject to various degrees of scrutiny for reasons
relating to their gender. We saw numerous examples of this in “Miss
Representation” regardless of party affiliation. Who is to blame? This article
claims that the media is responsible for the war being waged on women. These
types of stories circulated throughout modern media can always be blamed on a
political party, which is convenient. Political parties for sure have played a
part in the treatment of women; however the media has played a substantial role
as well. The article discusses specific differences in the coverage of women in
politics depending upon their political parties. There are so many instances of
this happening, cases can be made on both sides of the aisle. Maybe the problem
could be better addressed if we didn’t immediately look to blame the other side
of the aisle?
