"10 Feminist Poets You Should Know"

Alice Walker

"10 Feminist Poets You Should Know"

I think sometimes when we thing about women's rights activism we focus on things like marches and conferences, but I think it is also interesting to consider artistic expression as a form of activism.  This link features 10 poets who focus on gender and equality issues.

The list features two of my favorite authors: Alice Walker, known for The Color Purple, and Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid's Tale (which I highly recommend reading if you never have).

Some of the poems featured at the bottom of the poet's short biography were really beautiful and intriguing, while I have to admit that others were somewhat over my head.  As I often hear, however, art is "in the eye of the beholder."

I'd love for you to check some of them out and let me know what you think.
