"Blame women's unhappiness on feminism? Sure, say conservative gals..."

"Blame women's unhappiness on feminism? Sure, say conservative gals..."

This is really amazing to me.

As the author explains, in celebration (you would sense some sarcasm if I was speaking this word) of Women's History Month, a panel of professional women were gathered to speak for the conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.  There is a video of the panel and an article discussing the conference.

Instead of celebrating, they essentially trashed the feminist movement and held it responsible for a "high out-of-wedlock birth rate and a decline in women's overall happiness."  They forgot to mention that it was that very movement that contributed to allowing them to gain their high positions in their fields of work, vote, or any of the other things that women were not always allowed to do.

The way they talk about feminism is basically in the terms of the negative stigmas we discussed in class last week.
