4 Children For Sale, Inquire Within
I was scrolling through a news site when I came upon the above article. The main picture, that I have seen multiple places, shows 4 siblings sitting on a porch, next to a sign that reads "4 children for sale - inquire within." Their mother has her head turned away from camera, seemingly ashamed. Never did I believe that she ACTUALLY sold her children during the late 1940s, but this article taught me that she really did. In the article is a bunch of (really cool) pictures of the siblings, and their own life-stories about abuse, finding eachother, and reuniting with their birth mother. It's sad what these people had to go through, as if being sold by your own mother wasn't enough.
I've never heard of this story until now, but it's certainly interesting. The idea of selling your children seems so otherworldly, but sadly it still happens today. Not only in other countries, but in the US as well. It was just a year ago that a Oklahoma woman was arrested for trying to sell her children on Facebook.
