As I was doing my research for my presentation over South
Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, I came across a few articles which addressed
many different allegations against the governor. A fellow Republican and South
Carolina state Senator, Jake Knotts was quoted as calling Haley a “raghead”. In
his comments he also associated Haley with President Obama, saying “We’ve
already got one raghead in the white house, we don’t need one in the governor’s
mansion.” The article goes on to discuss allegations that Haley had been
involved in an affair, a claim that goes without proof of any sort and has been
denied by Haley. This is further displays the criticism associated with women
in politics.
I agree. I think many people are also upset that she won the primary in 2010 and almost lost the general election in a good year for Republicans in a very conservative state. I feel as i some elected officials feel that they can bully someone out of running in order to promote themselves.
