I thought I'd share this event happening on campus next week -
Ball State's Department of Physiology and the Office of Victim Services are teaming up for 'Operation Jungle Red', in which male BSU students are encouraged to stop by the Scramble light April 15 and 16 to have one of their nails painted in red in support of ending violence against women.
Our campus isn't immune to the type of sexual assault and physical abuse that women face every day. I'd encourage all of you to take part in the event - it's definitely a worthy cause. Check out the press release below for more details.

Global prevalence figures indicate that 35% of women worldwide have experienced either intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
In April 2012 and April 2013, 4000 BSU male students painted one of their nails red to show
support for the cause of preventing violence against women.

Thanks for sharing info about this event. I haven't heard of it before now, and I think it's a great idea to raise awareness.Sometimes it is difficult to know when a guy is physically abusing a woman (or a woman abusing a man, for that matter). I will be telling my male friends and conveniently walking them through the scramble light at that time.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Happy to share - hopeful that the event will attract a lot of participants
